Aamby Valley India Bridal Week 2010 Rocky S

Think velvet, chiffon, organza, lycra, scarves, stoles and zari. Rocky S’s collection at the India Bridal Week comprised of a lavish and crafty mix and match of all of these items. He starts off the show with the women’s collection where each outfit steps dangerously close to being predictable. The women’s wear seemed to have varied items for the trousseau of the bride right from a mehendi party to a cocktail reception. We saw them all, the lehengas, the saris, the chudidar kurtas and some interesting gowns. Many of them had their own adaptation of the season’s trends. The beige lycra tights with zari worn with what looked like a festive adaptation of a summer top with power shoulders, didn't do much for his collection. But another one - a black frilly lehenga with zari borders worn with a velvet jacket for a blouse, seemed to be an interesting choice and can be worn for the reception cocktail or a party. The color palate which dealt largely with shades of beige, pink, some maroon, white and beige again somehow didn’t do much to flare up the festivity of a wedding. Leopard prints which is again flavor of the season in the west found its way into the Indian bridal collection. The accessories mix was quite entertaining with the use of kadas, scarves as head dresses, bags and some ostentatious stilettos.

The men’s collection had a good mix of kurtas, jackets with embroideries, furry scarves, comfortable dhoti pants and also some suits. But no matter what you wear, what to make or break your clothing is in wearing the right attitude, which was done here with finesse.
